Rheumatism=Inflammation and Pain in Joints, Muscles, Tissues
The word rheumatism is derived from the Greek word ‘rheuma’, which means a swelling. It refers to an acute or chronic illness which is characterised by pain and swelling of the muscles, ligaments and tendons, or the joints.
Causes and symptoms of rheumatism
The onset of the acute variety of rheumatism is characterised by fever, intense soreness, and pain. In the acute muscular type, the area becomes so sensitive that even the weight of bed clothing aggravates the pain. It may settle into a chronic state under a wrong mode of treatment. If the disease is not treated properly in the acute stage, it may become chronic. The symptoms of chronic muscular rheumatism are pain and stiffness of the affected muscles. In the case of chronic articular rheumatism (pain in the joints), pain and stiffness are felt in one or more joints of the body, with swelling in most cases. (more…)

The hair has a tendency to lose its natural colour with advancing age and turn grey, but premature greying is a morbid condition and it makes even the young look older.
The hair is an appendage of the skin. It is composed of the same kinds of cells as are found in the outer layer of the skin, which is known as the epidermis. Hair grows from hair follicles which are deep recesses in the epidermis. The sebaceous glands of the scalp secrete an oily substance called sebum, which is the source of nutrition, lustre, and blackness of the hair. In modern times, most children and teenagers have numerous health problems. Most have postural defects, mainly mild scohosis; besides most sit in a slouching, kyphotic posture, bent forward; such habit of slouching results in poor ventilation of lungs in the chest and inefficient functioning of the stomach, liver, pancreas, small and large intestines, etc., in the abdominal cavity. Seasonal Feverishness

Pneumonia = Inflammation of the Lungs
Pneumonia refers to the inflammation of the lungs. It is one of the most serious infectious diseases. The disease assumes alarming proportions if both the lungs are affected; this condition is called double pneumonia in common parlance.
Causes and Symptoms of Pneumonia
Most cases of pneumonia begin with a cold in the head or throat. The patient generally feels a chill, shivering fever, difficulty in breathing, and sharp pain in the chest. This may be followed by a cough with pinkish sputum, which may later become brownish. In young children, the disease may cause delirium and convulsions. The temperature may rise to 40-60C and the pulse may go upto 150 beats per minute. A common complication of pneumonia is pleurisy. (more…)
